About the event

Request for Qualifications: Racial Equity Impact Data (REID) Project Coordinating Consultant

AALAM, The Hispanic Collaborative, the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, and a network of civic leaders are helping strengthen the movement for racial equity and we want to get Milwaukee on the same page about how. We’ll only get there together, and we want to get there faster with a shared gameplan.

In 2021, fourteen leaders of color came together to learn and begin drafting plays. They developed a vision and a model for how to make it real. We have the starting blocks, but this is an effort we all need to build together. We need you to help us refine our vision and to grow a radically inclusive racial equity movement

Racial equity is the end-goal but it is also the approach. We demand a movement that is built by the leadership of those enduring racial oppression, capable of building new ways of being.

To hold racial equity as both the mission and the manner of achieving the mission requires that we address the ongoing harm perpetuated by racial inequity in the here-and-now, but do so in a manner that builds towards the necessary systems change we know is required to achieve racial equity.  We propose that an anti-racist framework can structure this approach. By prioritizing on shifting policies, representation, and power towards racial equity, we can all work together to advance the mission regardless of our specific efforts.

The partners seek a coordinating consultant who demonstrates the following in order to advance our work together:

  • · Track record of successful civic leadership and community leadership engagement from diverse Milwaukeeans
  • · Experience and expertise in creating and building trust between diverse and possibly divergent groups make difficult decisions through trust building
  • · Significant experience in convening and moderating groups of racially, ethnically, generationally and economically diverse audiences
  • · Proven experience in transferring community engagement practices and skills to other leaders
  • · Experience and expertise in aligning strategy design and intended project outcomes to community readiness (trust level, on-the-ground realities)
  • · Track record of managing & coordinating teams of leaders engaging with sustained collective action
  • · A demonstrated commitment to racial equity and/or racial justice
